I miss the Kid being the Kid and not Tyson. In this book, Tyson gets his own story, but I didn't like it as much as I did the first two books.I think I was kind of sad to see what Ty had become, because he is the wunderkind he is. It is a very realistic trajectory given what he has been through in his life, but I just wished that he had had it easier in the gap years - I'm a romantic like that. He had also grown out of his antics a little bit, and I miss his rants/banter.I knew that Ty and Bear couldn't be together forever, and that Ty had to grow up and find new friends, but since their relationship was a huge draw for me towards the first two books, I thought it was a shame that it wasn't all that present. I also really loved Ben and wish there had been more scenes with him.The love story wasn't overwhelming, and I seemed similar to Bear and Otter's, and Tyson has turned into Bear a little bit with his mind ramblings, so all in all, it was a little too similar to Bear and Otter's books for me.I enjoyed living in the universe a little longer and revisiting all the characters, and I will also be reading the last book in the series, but I wasn't blown away by this third installment.

My Review:This story was different just because this story is told from Ty, the Kid's, point of view. Not that that's a bad thing. It totally wasn't. I actually liked the change. So, this story is about Ty. We've known him since his mother abandoned him when he was six years old, although the majority of Ty and Bear's story before this book takes place when he's nine. So, to see him as an adult (he's 19 in this book) was a change...again, not a bad thing. The thing is, Ty has always been brilliant and headed for a great future. But what his mother put him and Bear through has had it's effects...and all those come out in his story. It's not an easy story, especially after having watched him grow up. In this story, Ty is lost and it's heartbreaking to watch especially at first. Of course, his entire 'family' is still trying to support him, but much like his big brother, Bear, Ty has a really hard time letting others in to help. But in the midst of all the trauma and drama there were still so many laugh out loud moments. So many of them happened because of Ty realizing just how much like Bear he is...much to his chagrin. And can I just say...having read the At First Sight series, seeing Sandy and Corey/Kori and that entire crew in this series made me so completely happy. I love it when authors do that...it's like a little gift in a book!I loved this story so, so much. Ty's romance is incredible. I loved that Dom made him work for it. These two most definitely don't have any easy go of it despite being inseparable as kids. They have to go through some growing pains first, but the wait for them to get their act together was so worth it. I LOVE THEM...and omg, Ben and Stacey's addition in this story...just perfection!!

This is the second time I’ve read The Art of Breathing (I should probably mention that it won’t be my last…) For some strange, unexplainable reason, I neglected to write a review the first time. The only excuse I may have is that this book gave me such an emotional hangover that I couldn’t come up with anything coherent to write… For the record, waiting and reading it again hasn’t helped, but I owe it to this book and series to give it a try…The Art of Breathing is told from Tyson (the Kid’s) POV. It’s rather ironic in a way because the other books in the series are told from Bear’s POV and in this book Tyson realizes, much to his dismay, that he and his brother have much more in common that he’s comfortable admitting. 😉There were a lot of surprises in The Art of Breathing. A lot of tears, a lot of laughs and a fair amount of heartbreak. As per usual with T.J. Klune, those moments can make you shed tears of laughter followed by tears of heartbreak within the span of just a few pages… I kinda both love and hate him for that. *sigh*Tyson wasn’t in a very good place through a lot of The Art of Breathing, mostly because of Dom. Because of that, regardless of how unfair it was, I spent a lot of this book not very happy with Dominic. Nothing’s exactly as it seems though and as the story unfolded I actually fell right back in love with him. Their story needed to come full circle and I understand why things happen the way they did, but it didn’t make experiencing them through Tyson made them any easier. I think to me, regardless of how much he’s grown in this series, I’m always going to see him as just the “little guy” we met in Bear, Otter and the Kid.Tyson was at the center of this story, but there was so much to love about The Art of Breathing that I’m not quite sure I can list it all. To be honest, I decided to re-read the Kid’s book for a couple of reasons. First, the next book in Klune’s At First Sight series is coming out soon and since Why We Fight is Corey/Kori’s book and I first met him/her in The Art of Breathing, I wanted to refresh my memory. Second… I have decided that 2019 will be the year that I finally put on my “Big Girl Pants” and read The Long and Winding Road.Bear, Otter and the Kid was my first T.J. Klune read and this series has pulled me into an author’s world like no other. Saying goodbye to these characters isn’t going to be easy, but like this review, I owe it to them to finally see it through. ❤
