I bought a used copy of this book from a 3rd party seller for $4 free shipping. It came in very good condition. As a girl who grew up in the late 80's with no technology or screens to distract me, I was somewhat forced to become a veracious reader. Calvin and Hobbes was my GO-TO book collection of choice by the mid 90's. I couldn't put these books down! I just love them all and have missed them. I decided to buy several of these books used so that my 7.5 year old son can enjoy them just as much as I did. And hopefully I can convince him that reading can be more fun than computer games.
I read with my Nephew every night for twenty minutes as this is what is required by his school. It used to be hard to find books that he liked or that held his interest for very long. Then I decided to give Calvin and Hobbes, and what a difference it has made! It is fun for him because of the cartoon format, and Calvin is always finding new ways to get in trouble.The vocabulary in these books is at a higher level of the reading he gets in school, so we go over the pronunciation and definition of the words together for better comprehension. His reading skills have really improved and he definitely enjoys reading these books, CAUTIONARY NOTICE: Calvin is not the best role model as he doesn't like school, homework, baths or anything that his Mom cooks for dinner. A lot of the adventures that Calvin and Hobbes have do land Calvin in hot water. I think that this is one of the reasons that my Nephew enjoys reading them so much.The seller got these books off to me quickly, and they were all in excellent condition I will buy from them again, and I recommend them to anyone considering using their services.
I have loved these books for over 30 years. Collected most of them and then added a few more and gave them to grandson who loves them as well. Years ago I copied a page of Hobbes and Calvin dancing and had them printed around a t-shirt for each family member. Way fun!
My 6 years old grandson identifies strongly with Calvin, and his stuffed bear, Blue with Hobbs. He laughs so hard at Calvin and Hobb's antics. Reading it to him and with him has helped his reading capability and has had the added bonus of expanding his ever increasing vocabulary. Wonderful stuff!..........and the seller is top notch!!!
Everyone in our family is a big fan of Calvin and Hobbes. This one is no exception. However, keep in mind that when ordering from an independent party, if they say something will be there between say, July 2 - August 8, believe them. I ordered this weeks ago and it arrived on August 8. The last day possible. My son was bummed it took so long. I was bummed that the "very good" condition wasn't what I would call very good. Buyers beware!
This was one of the best comic strips ever. I certainly missed Calvin and Hobbes once Bill Watterson retired the strip, and this book contains some of his best work.My son loves the ingeniousness of Bill Watterson's characters and all of their shenanigans. Very creative, full of humor, and very entertaining for comic strip lovers of all ages.
During their lifetime, my hubby, sons, and now grandsons have loved Calvin and Hobbes. I guess it runs in the genes. There are several different Calvin and Hobbes books. My hubby and I were introduced to these in the newspaper funny pages when we were little kids. You cannot go wrong purchasing one of these for your child or grandchild, if they enjoy cartoons. If you are not familiar with these books, check them out at your local library.
Absolutely love C&H. Bought this for my 9 and 12 year olds after they discovered my old "Attack of the Killer Snowgoons". Then again, the 9 year old is getting ideas. Might not have been my wisest choice of reading material for my Calvin in Training.
