Itto Mentaiko is my favorite bara manga author. I love his style from his artwork to his storytelling. After purchasing his first published work for the west titled “Priapus” released in 2015, I was very happy to purchase his second collection of stories. His second book is titled “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” and contains 3 stories: Hamu and The Boy Who Cried Wolf, Holy Night and As Swift as Lightning. Between his two books, this new one is smaller only because there are less stories this time around which I was surprised with the publisher “Bruno Gmunder”. I know Mentaiko has a few stories that might not transition well in the west but I know he has plenty of others stories that could have been used for the second book but the publisher decided not to.The artwork in this book is great as usual just like the first book especially his first two stories: Hamu and The Boy Who Cried Wolf and Holy Knight. But the last story published in this book, “As Swift as Lightning” is one of Mentaiko’s earlier works, so the art style definitely looks different than his current art style, which is understandable with most manga artist/authors, since their art develops and changes overtime. The last story is still good but you will easily notice a difference in the art style. Just like the first book, this book is huge compare to your typical manga with big panels. Also Mentaiko’s art is uncensored again which is great! And last this book is translated in English even though the publisher is German. So definitely pick this book up if you were a fan of Mentaiko’s first book and/or you are a bara fan!

Absolutely loved the first of three stories in this manga titled 'Hamu and the Boy Who Cried Wolf'. Granted the author leaves you hanging with that one, instead of give the reader closure. Was still a really good read in my eyes and even pulled at the heart strings for a brief moment along the way.Story two, being 'Holy Night' was a good read, not a solid 100% enjoyable all the way through sort of read, but it was still good nonetheless. Maybe I see it that way because I've never really been a big fan of the whole typical friends with benefits type of a situation in a manga I'd be reading, nor am I a fan of that sort of thing irl either, so I guess it goes hand and hand.Story three, 'As Swift As Lightning' threw me for a loop, and often times confused me more times then I could honestly count. Reading it right from the get-go gave off this ancient Japan 50 Shades of Grey vibe, which to be perfectly honest, made me feel slightly uncomfortable. I still managed to finish the story though, which says a lot.

Loved his work since I first saw it few years back lol so glad Bruno Gmunder decided to invest in him! Wish they would print some of his older colored works as a collection

Japanese comics at their best.

I love these stories so much! Brings back memories when I was first coming out. I wish he would do a third book!
