Berry's wife says he is really expert at repeating himself, which he demonstrates here. But if you love Berry it doesn't matter. I read the book backwards, the indignant short story about hiring someone to fix his fence being the best piece in it. I had forgotten how deeply he dives into science and scripture, a welcome combination. I bought two copies, one as a gift for an evangelical environmentalist and one for myself simply to honor Berry's life. It is telling and sad that he must report as the book begins that things have only gotten worse since he first sounded his multiple warnings.
Outstanding read. Mr Berry still knows what a man can do in a day.

Wendell Berry has a talent to discern systemic connections between earth, society, health.
